- Sri Lanka Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Bill (Passed)
- Published in March 2025, this bill amends the Personal Data Protection Act. It stipulates that all provisions of the Act (with the exception of Section 1, which previously set the timeline for the Act’s provisions to take effect) will become operational on a date or dates appointed by the Minister via an Order published in the Gazette. The bill also modifies the process and timelines for responding to data subject requests and alters the requirements for DPIAs, indicating that they only need to be submitted to the DPA upon its written request.
