• South Korea Partial Amendment Bill to the Personal Information Protection Act (Passed)
  • This amendment to the Personal Information Protection Act, passed in March 2025, clarifies the existing legal requirement for foreign businesses to appoint a domestic agent for their personal data processing activities in South Korea. It specifies which entities must appoint a domestic agent, how controllers should manage and supervise these agents, and establishes penalties for non-compliance. The amendment will become effective six months after its promulgation and is set to enter into force on October 2, 2025.
