• Malaysia Personal Data Protection Amendment Act and associated guidance (In force)
  • The Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024, originally passed in October 2024, came into full effect on June 1st. In February, the DPA released “Guidelines on DPO Appointment” and “Guidelines on Data Breach Notification.” In April, the DPA published “Guidelines on Cross-Border Personal Data Transfers,” which outline the conditions and requirements for transferring data outside of Malaysia. The DPA also provided “FAQs on appointing a DPO” in May.
