• Argentina Personal Data Protection Law (Draft)
  • This bill, introduced in April 2025, aims to amend Argentina’s data protection law to bring it into closer alignment with international standards. It defines key terms and requires that personal data be processed lawfully, fairly, transparently, for legitimate purposes, and in a manner that is limited to what is necessary. The bill also mandates prior consent for the processing of personal data. It grants data subjects rights to access, rectify, oppose, and delete their personal data, as well as rights to data portability and to not be subject to automated decision-making. The bill further requires the appointment of a DPO and restricts international data transfers to countries that provide an adequate level of protection or where appropriate safeguards are in place. It also establishes a DPA with enforcement powers, including the authority to impose fines and suspend operations.
